Transfer Jing to ji. from 10000 to 3
one hundred days to build a foundation
the centre of this step is the lower dantien
The first step of the internal alchemical proces is to transform your mundane and rough energy to ji (chi). The Chinese call this rough energy Jing (ching). Carl Jung called it Libido. Hippies call it Mojo. I'ts the basic lifeforce within.
To transform this Jing to ji:
step1: You first have to hatch an egg. Sit in Lotus or half Lotus position. Place your hands upwards over each other on your lap, he fingers of both hands overlapping eachother and the tips of the thumbs touching. Than you have to strongly look inward at your dantien (your lower dantien that is, an area in your abdomen, roughly from some centimeters behind your navel stretching upward some 15 centimeters). it's an energetic space, that can quite easily be located, if you trust your own judgement. You hold your eyes closed but imagine them open and looking straight at your dantien. You concentrate as hard and long as you can on this area. (Women who are menstruating are said to focus on a point between the breasts instead of the dantien. Don't know if that makes sense.)
.
Step 2: meet the dantien from below. Use the bottom part of your torso for this: the perineum. Use these muscles of the perineum to create a gentle pressure, as if holding back when you need to urinate or defecate. So from above we press with our imagination (or willpower , or yi) and from beneath we press with the muscles of our perineum. Like hatching an egg. Don it gently, you don't want to break anything, and take your time.
step 3: do this every day for as long as you can without overdoing. A quarter a day is OK, an hour is OK. Getting pains is not OK, forgetting to do it is not OK.
step 4: after some time you wil feel sexually oriented sensations. this is yang ji into which the jing has transformed. This is Ji in its rough and unpurified form. Men feel vibrations in testicles or the prostate gland, women apparently feel vibrations or expansions and contractions in the womb or breasts. Off course its good news when you have these sensations. You can be happy about it, but don't dwell on it, and don't start thinking about sexual fantasies. Though you probably will have increased libido in this period, you must not use this energy for increased sexual activity.
Step 5: is about the moment you start transferring Yang ji to ji. It requires adequate timing. When you have too little of the sexual vibrations, it will not work, when you wait to long you might lose your energy. The right time is called Huo Hou, which means the right amount of time to cook a certain food. When you feel the vibrations clearly and for some time and there not growing anymore but are more or less stable, its the right time. Trust your judgement. Its the right time when it feels right. When the timing is right you inhale, contract your abdomen and imagine the energy rising upward from the lower part of the torso. You let it travel in a very defined and controlled way. I don't know how necesarry it is to do it exactly like this, but I know doing it exactly like this works.
We use 12 points. see picture below. Point 1 is the lowest part of the torso, between genitals and anus, the perineum. Point 7 is the top of your head. Point 2 tot 6 are at the back of your body, at your backbone, or more accurately, at your dumai, the energy pathway at the back of your body. Point 8 to 12 are in the front of your body, at the renmai. Point 10 is at the front of your body at the lowest part of your sternum. Point 4 is at the same height on your back. Between point 1 and 4 are at regular distances point 2 and 3, between 4 and 7 are point 5 and 6 etc
Let your energy travel from point 1 to point 2 while you inhale en contract your abdomen. When the energy reaches point 2 you exhale and relax. repeat this 9 times, gently and smoothly. Like this you transform the sexual sensations of yang ji energy into the inner energy of Ji. When after a cycle of 9 their is still yang ji, you repeat this proces yet another 9 times, only this time from point 1 via point 2 to point 3. In this step 5 you always continue untill all your yang ji (the sexual vibrating energy) is used. When you have yang ji left after you have reached point 3 for 9 times, you go from point 1 via point 2 and 3 to point 4. There you keep on concentrating for a little while, then relax and exhale. This is called taking a bath. (and its nice). When you still have yang ji left after taking a bath you go to point 5 for 9 times, after that to point 6 for 9 times . the total amount of inhalations is 36. When from point 6 you reach point 7, you exhale very long and slowly while tracing to point 8. After that you inhale while focussing on point 7 and again exhale to point 8. You do this for 6 times. from point 8 to 9 again 6 times. At point 10 you take a bath, From 10 tot 11 an from 11 to 12 you trace 6 times, with a total amount of 24 times exhalations
The inhaling is called "inhaling to raise yang fire". the exhaling is called "exhaling to descend Yin Fu. You inhale from point 1 tot 7 for 36 times while relaxing at exhaling and you exhale from 7 tot 12 for 24 times while you breath in through point 7. At point 4 and 10 you take a bath. the first times you will only reach point 2 and gradually you work your way up and around.
Step 6: repeat step 5 again and again. Again concentrate on your dantien, hatch an egg, feel the sexual vibrating energy of yang ji and transform this into ji by the cycle mentioned at step 5.
The more jing you transform to ji, the more jing you will have got the next time to transform
When you have succeeded in transferring jing to ji here are a few exercises to play with your ji and by doing so learn to use it properly.
(Jou, Tsung Hwa places these exercises at "turn ji to shen", but i disagree. Turning ji to shen is definitely other stuff, and another chapter on this website)

The small heavenly circle:
Its the same circle as described above. Once you master the flowing of ji from point to point, you can let the ji frow freely from point 1 to point 7 when inhaling and form point 7 to point 1 again while exhaling. You can also do it the other way around if you want to.
Instead of point 1 you can also use the sole of your feet. This is what daoist mean by breathing through your feet. Some people call inhaling trough your feet (and by doing this making a bigger circle) the greater heavenly circle. That's a bit silly off course, the greater heavenly circle is the movement of the sun, the moon, the planets and the stars we see circling around us. A much greater circle that is!
The eight meridians
Let your ji flow with inhalation and exhalation across 8 meridians. after each inhalation hold your breath for a moment.
1st inhalation: from point 1 tot point 7 (Tu or Du)
1st exhalation: from point 7 tot point 1 (Jen or Ren)
2nd inhalation : from point 1 to the dantien, to the fornt of the abdomen, their the energy divides in 2 pathways that circle around the body towards two pints at either side of the spine (belt meridian) and from there to the shoulderblades
2nd exhalation: form the shoulderblades over the back of the arm, the elbows, down the back of the wrists, over the back of the middle finger then down the front of the middle finger to the centre of the palm (both sides) (Yang yu meridian)
3rd inhalation: from the palms via the soft front side of the arm towrds a point a little above the nipple (yin yu meridian)
3rd exhalation: From thes points above the nipples straight downward to the belt meridian. then let them flow along te belt meridian towards each other and merge in the middle of the body. from there inside to the dantien and then form the dantien to point 1
4th inhalation: from point 1 to the dantien, from dantien to a place just below the heart. this is called the Red Palace. (Tsoung meridian)
4th exhalation, form the red palace to dantien to p[oint 1, where the energy flow diveds over both legs and runs over the front of the leg, across the kneecap down to the ankle and the top of the foot, over the top of the middle toe and finally to the middle of the sole of the foot (Yang chou meridian)
5th inhalation: across the back part of the sole, the ankle, along the soft back par tof the leg to converge at point 1 and from there to dantien (yin chou meridian)
5th exhalation: from dantien to point 1
Around the time you are ready tot progress to the next stage of turning chi into shen, Hsuan Kuan, the mysterious gate to the castle will appear.
